I’ve often written that everyone should learn all they can about E. coli, salmonella and the rest of the disabling and sometimes deadly single-celled microorganisms that often make the simple act of eating a painful adventure.
In that spirit, I urge you to hit this link and check out the outstanding reporting that Los Angeles Times journalist Karen Kaplan accomplished as she offered an in-depth tour of the wonderful world of salmonella.
She wrote that “This is salmonella’s world. We’re just living in it.” She says that the deadly bacterium, responsible for recent pistachio and peanut recalls, can live in many wild animals and in almost any climate. And it’s thriving in our modern lifestyle.
